I’ve been a beauty and lifestyle journalist for just over four years.
When I started this blog, I had a dream. I wanted to see my work in major publications. I have loved to write ever since I was a little girl and I wanted my work to reach more people.
So, I started writing for smaller publications so I could get a feel for what writing for major publications would be like. Writing for smaller publications as an aspiring journalist was a great experience. I was able to figure out what I wanted my specialism to be.
After two years writing for smaller publications and offering writing services to brands and PR agencies, I received an email from an editor at Popsugar, who asked me if I would like to write for them and the rest was history.
The first-ever article I wrote as a journalist for Popsugar was about Black-owned subscription boxes. At the time, the Black Lives Matter movement had resurged and I wanted to champion Black-owned brands who were doing amazing things in the subscription box space.
Byrdie was the second publication I wrote for and I still write for them today. They are one of the largest beauty sites on the internet, reaching over nine million readers a month. My first Byrdie article was about the best foundations for dark skin, which I loved because I’m a certified makeup junkie who has tried lots of foundations through the years. At the moment, I tend to cover hair related topics for the site, which is something I also love!
As well as Popsugar and Byrdie, I have also written for Stylist, woman&home, Refinery29, Metro, Tes, Business Insider, The Industry.Beauty, Beauty Bay, Black Skin Directory and It’s A Lifestyle Hun.
My full portfolio can be found here and I have linked to some of my work below.
