5 Ways to Revamp Your Blog

Nov. 08, 2019

Blogging has never been easy, contrary to what some may say. The blogosphere has substantially grown over the past few years and the need to stand out is greater than ever! It takes more than a large following to keep your readers coming back. In this article, I am going to be sharing five blog improvement tips with you all:

Focus on keywords – I can’t stress how important keywords are. In How To Survive In The Blogosphere, I talk about this in a little more detail. Using keywords isn’t as complicated as it used to be – there are so many tools out there that you can use such as Google Trends, Answer The Public, Keywords Everywhere and more. The most important thing you can do as a blogger is identify which tool works for you and you will know this by checking what your new and existing readers are searching for on a daily, weekly and monthly basis. Also, don’t be afraid to play around with titles of existing articles, so if you want to write about the ‘Best Chocolate Cake Recipes’, check out the articles at the top of the SERP’s (search engine result pages) and pay close attention to the words that are used.

Get a new theme – A new theme is a great way to upgrade your blog. Kelle’s Space was given a much-needed makeover a few months ago and I was extremely happy with the results. One of the most important things to remember as a writer, blogger etc is that your work represents you. When people look at whatever it is you may be working on, they do get an idea of what you are really about. I remember procrastinating so much because this theme, which is from Theme Forest, cost me an arm and a leg! My new theme has made me a feel a lot more confident as a blogger and a writer and it’s definitely made content a lot easier to find. To anyone who is thinking about getting a new theme, I would say: install it when you have time, ask for support from the seller and don’t be afraid to be really particular with the kind of look/vibe you want to go for.

Invest in a backdrop for photos – Photos are such an important part of blogging, especially when you consider the fact that the majority (if not all) of the blogosphere are on Instagram. Instagram is a great way to drive traffic to your blog, but in order to do this, your photos need to be bomb. Backdrops have gone from being a hidden gem to one of the most sought-after pieces of photography equipment for creatives. Choosing the right one will take time because you’ll need to think about the styles, sizes etc but having a backdrop will help you in the long run. A ring light will also play its part ensure that your photos are noticed.

Guest post – If you are thinking about attracting a new audience, then guest posting is definitely something you should consider. Guest posting will increase your blog’s views and you should be able to gain a whole bunch of followers in the process. If guest posting is not for you, you can contribute to articles from other bloggers. Recently, I collaborated with a few bloggers who shared their tips and hacks for booking cheap flights. It’s a simple but effective form of self-promotion. Something else I have also done since the launch of this site, is write articles for a series of  online publications.

Try and explore some different topics – When it comes to finding your niche, it can be so hard when the topic you are passionate about just isn’t generating any views. For me, the most popular post on this site is a beauty review but I’ve stopped doing them because they can be so time consuming. However, I have vowed to start doing them again in 2020 because beauty is something that I am passionate about. Blogging is all about giving your readers what they want but from time to time, you’ll need to step outside your comfort zone. A really easy way of identifying whether a slight change in content is working for us is by asking your readers a few questions at the end of the post.   If time is on your side, you could create a survey with an incentive.

Thank you all  for reading this post. I hope you found it helpful. Do you have any plans to revamp your blog? If you do, then what are you planning to do?

Don’t forget to like and subscribe so you are first to know whenever there’s any new content on the blog xo

    Kelle,
These specific tips are cool for those keen to grow in the blogosphere.
You reminded me of my folder of things to do every day. In that folder, I tick each blog post that gets a spruce up, updates, changes, and a revamp. I will go to the drawing board with my team again soon. You have great ideas that we could incorporate too. Oh, who loves to change? And yet it is a prerequisite to go along with growth.
It a blog post worthy of a share and Twitter love.

The biggest takeaway from The Polygamist so far is that if he’s left you before, he will leave you again. No comfort or peace can possibly be found with a man who has a pattern of leaving his family and going back to them. God’s strength to any woman with a Jonasi in their lives.
