Kelle’s Space is all about educating and empowering millennial women. Over the past year and a half, I’ve been able to use this platform to share my stories as well as provide insight on a range of life-related topics. One of the highlights of my blogging journey has to be working with other bloggers. I believe that we all have a story to tell and we owe it to ourselves to be heard, to live out loud. If our current circumstances have taught us anything, I hope it’s that life is fragile. Yes, we are all in lockdown, but it doesn’t mean that we shouldn’t use this time effectively. Reinvention is like a cycle: it goes round and round and there’s always ways in which we can be better and do better, every single day.

Jenna from Jenna’s Worldview is one of the most inspiring bloggers I know. She believes in empowering women, she’s an advocate for living your best life and she’s a pretty awesome person too. In this post, Jenna is going to be talking about reinvention and the steps you need to take in order to change your life. I hope you find this post just as inspiring as I did when I read it. Also, don’t forget to subscribe to her blog and follow her on socials too.
With everything that is going on in the world, now is the perfect time to reinvent yourself. I believe that many of us will come out on the other side of this pandemic as different women. Many people across the world will be impacted by COVID-19 in some way OR another. As a result, the way they approach life going forward will most likely have to change. This may sound scary but if you’ve been wanting to see some change in your life, then use this opportunity to make it happen. Now is the time to really take the steps towards being the person you’ve been longing to become:

What does it mean to reinvent yourself?
To ‘reinvent‘ yourself means to change how you see the world, your inner programming and self-image. This can take some time and effort due to factors such as conditioning, which impact who we ‘think’ we are and how we see ourselves.

When something major happens in a person’s life, they usually go on a journey of transformation. A breakup, marriage, grief, children, a milestone birthday or a new job are some of the catalysts that inspire us to change. Reinventing yourself can be subconscious and happens naturally without much thought, sometimes it can be intentional.

A new version of yourself is always available
A few years ago, I found myself at a crossroad when my dysfunctional fairytale-of-a-relationship went up in smoke.
Heartbroken, disoriented and struggling to deal with the disappointment, I was left feeling stagnant, but everything changed the moment God threw me a lifeline that pushed me to move on from my old life and old self.
Aimlessly scrolling through Instagram one day, I had a light bulb moment to start my own travel page. After going down a black hole on Instagram via the hashtag #blackwomentraveltoo @Jennasworldview was born and the journey of reinventing myself and starting a new life began.
Now I don’t know how you want to reinvent yourself, only you know that. But whatever the case maybe, I’m here to offer you some encouragement and pointers to help you get going.

Clarity Is Key
If you’re making a conscious decision to reinvent yourself, it’s important to have clarity. Being clear on what you want to change is vital. Many times, we set out to do things with no real goal or direction. Other times we let our wants interfere with our needs. Before you do anything, get clear on what you’re doing and why. Pray, mediate and seek appropriate counsel that will help you gain clarity. The path to reinvention is not a smooth sailing journey, so it’s important to ensure that you have a good sense of direction.

Work out your strategy
Once you’ve decided on how you plan to reinvent yourself, it’s time to figure out your strategy. What do you need to do? Who do you need to connect with? What do you need to let go of? etc. These are important questions you need to ask yourself because they will help you work out what it is you need to prioritise and what you may need to put to one side. A solid and well thought out plan will help you get your affairs in order. As soon as you’ve worked out your strategy get to work. Don’t delay! The longer you wait to get started, the longer it’ll take for you to see results. Start today!

Clear Out All the Clutter
In order for new things to come you must get rid of the old. Clear out the emotional clutter in your mind and physical clutter in your space. Get rid of stuff that is no longer serving you whether that be old clothes, notebooks or relationships etc. If something no longer serves a purpose in your life, let it go.

Take Your Time
Great things take time and so don’t be afraid to set significant goals for yourself. Be patient with the reinvention process. If you’re goal is to lose 20 pounds, I guarantee you won’t see results in 24 hours. But if you don’t give up, you’ll eventually see results. It takes 21 days to form a new habit and that should tell you everything that you need to know. Trust the process and enjoy it.

Don’t Be Afraid to Keep Pushing
If you’re setting out to reinvent yourself in any capacity, please note that it won’t be easy. Some days it will be smooth sailing, and on other days, you’ll probably want to throw in the towel. Push through. Even if that means you have to switch up your strategy or reshuffle your goals a little bit. Focus on your goals and keep what you want to achieve at the forefront of your mind.

Since being on lockdown (due to COVID-19) I’ve had the chance to engage in some valuable self-reflection, about myself as well my life (click here to read the post). There are so many things that I’m already starting to do differently, and I plan to keep the momentum going post lockdown. It’s really now or never and I choose to start now, and you can do the same too.

Clearing out emotional clutter is such a good way of putting it. Get rid of the junk, you’re better than that 🙂
I agree. A lot of us don’t realise that our environments play a part in the way we feel, so if you need to get rid of things, my mantra is ‘don’t hesitate, just do it’.
Thanks for reading the post Jodie 🙂
